The easiest election decision in U.S history
First time in over 25 years writing every Monday for the Spanish community, that I decided to translate to English my last column.
For the first time in American history, voters have clear insights into the potential impact of each candidate's presidency; one candidate has previously held the office, while the other currently serves as vice president.
This choice hinges on a straightforward question: Are you better off today than you were four years ago—in terms of finances, safety, education, and overall quality of life? If you feel the U.S. is on the right path, are comfortable with lenient immigration policies, and support the current direction of government, then the Democratic candidate may align with your views.
On the other hand, if you felt more secure under Trump’s administration—valued the strong border policies, appreciated a stable dollar, dreamt of affordable homeownership, and remember a period of low inflation and peace—then voting for Trump might make more sense.
Some may interpret this as bias for or against a candidate but let me know if you find any of these points inaccurate. The idea here is objectivity. Should reality favor one side, which isn’t due to bias.
Though polls show Harris as the frontrunner, I find it difficult to envision her victory. Trump defeated Hillary Clinton—a seasoned politician with a legacy name and millions of supporters. Now, he faces a candidate who exited the 2020 primaries with minimal support, largely unknown until recently; now many prefer her simply to counter Trump. This "anti-Trump" sentiment led to Biden’s election, and the results are plain to see.
For undecided voters, here are a few questions worth considering:
• Which candidate is likely to improve the economy?
• Does Harris have a record in job creation or business success?
• Who will better manage the current border crisis?
• Who is better prepared to negotiate on issues like Ukraine, Israel, Iran, China, and North Korea?
• Which president will command respect from international adversaries?
• Who will prioritize qualifications over identity in appointments?
• Which candidate is more direct and unfiltered?
• Who will likely restore sanctions on Iran, curbing their financial gains?
• Who will favor domestic resources over foreign deals with terrorists or dictators?
If you believe that decisiveness and strength are critical for today’s challenges, this could guide your choice.
Additionally, I struggle to envision Harris's winning with religious voters due to her support in favor of unrestricted abortion, including sex changes for minors without parental consent, and for supporting prisoner -funded gender reassignment surgeries.
In light of Israel's current crisis, it is hard to imagine the Jewish community’s traditional Democratic support remaining intact. Statistically around 70% of Jewish voters have traditionally chosen democrats, however, they must recognize that today’s democratic Party is not what it was when their parents & grandparents voted. States like New York, California between others, provide ample evidence of how much it has changed, also the party members in Congress are very different from the members during the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s; the left has grown stronger and took over part of it; we all know their international alliances...
Jewish voters might feel inclined to reconsider their long-standing support for the party if they want a better world that includes a safe Israel.
If you disagree, let me ask: Without Obama and Biden’s terms, would October 7 have happened? Iran, a leading terror sponsor, has thrived financially through policies that returned billions in previously frozen funds, lifting sanctions that had restricted their income. Each missile and bullet affecting Israel stems from that revenue. Without funding, terrorist can’t thrive.
Back in 2016, Obama released over $20 Billion to Iran. Estimates suggest that by 2023 Iran had received over $150 Billion from once- frozen funds, plus oil sales revenue, after Biden lifted the sanctions, Trump Imposed.
Which president can strengthen Israel’s defenses, ensuring campuses feel safe amid rising threats?
If you feel indifferent about Israel, keep in mind that Israel’s intelligence and its democratic values bolster global stability and safeguard American interests. The US is called the world’s police, and Israel is its equivalent in the middle East. Without Israel’s intelligence the US and the Western world would face greater threats. Israel remains America’s Most critical ally, even surpassing Great Britain.
Israel is currently losing the informational battle, where viral videos on TikTok shape public opinion. If Israel accidentally harms civilians, they are condemned, but when Iran or Hamas aim to harm millions of Israelis, there’s silence.
Israel could erase Gaza in minutes but has opted for a costly ground approach to protect civilians in Gaza, even though the risks of their own soldiers’ lives. Imagine if the situation were reversed—would the other side show such restraint?
Israel must do a better job informing the world of its role in global security. Many people walk the streets safely today because Israel’s intelligence prevents terrorist attacks worldwide, including in the U.S. What happens in Israel impacts global stability and the economy.
Israel and the world economy are headed for at least two tough years. How we face these challenges depends on who wins this election.
Before you vote on November 5, set aside any personal feelings about Trump. Vote for the candidate who will best safeguard the country, the world, and provide a secure future for your family.
Remember: If terrorists lay down their weapons, the war ends; if Israel lay down the weapons, it ceases to exist.
